1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Waste Water College, LLC ("Waste Water College," "we," "us," or "our"), a California limited liability company, collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you visit wastewatercollege.com (the "Site") or use our courses and related services (together, the "Services"). By using the Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy. Please also read our Terms of Service.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide to us

  • Account information, such as your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, username, and password.
  • Professional information you choose to provide, such as your employer, operator certificate or license type, grade, and certificate number, when needed to issue completion certificates or verify course requirements.
  • Communications you send us, such as support requests, extension requests, and emails.

Information created when you use the Services

  • Course records, including enrollment dates, access and expiration dates, extension requests, lesson progress, time spent in course, quiz and assessment results, and certificates issued.
  • Purchase records, such as the courses you bought, the amount paid, and the transaction date.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and usage information, such as IP address, browser type, operating system, pages viewed, referring pages, and dates and times of access.
  • Information collected through cookies and similar technologies, as described in Section 6.

Payment information

We do not collect or store credit card numbers or other payment card details. Payments are processed by third-party payment processors (for example, Stripe). When you make a purchase, your payment information is provided directly to the payment processor and is handled under its own privacy policy. We receive only limited information from the processor, such as confirmation that a payment succeeded, the amount, the date, and in some cases the card type and last four digits.

3. How We Use Information

We use personal information to:

  • Create and manage your account and enrollments;
  • Provide course access, track progress, and enforce access periods and extensions;
  • Issue certificates of completion and maintain training records;
  • Process purchases through our payment processors;
  • Respond to questions and provide support;
  • Send service-related messages, such as purchase confirmations, expiration reminders, and policy updates;
  • Send marketing messages, where permitted, which you can opt out of at any time;
  • Maintain the security of the Services and prevent fraud, account sharing, and misuse;
  • Improve and develop our courses and the Site; and
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share personal information only as follows:

  • Service providers: companies that help us run the Services, such as payment processors, website and course hosting providers, email delivery services, and analytics providers. They may use your information only to perform services for us.
  • Authorized representatives: if your employer, utility, agency, or another party purchased your course or you authorized them in writing, we may share your enrollment status, progress, and completion records with that party.
  • Regulators and certifying bodies: where required or requested in connection with operator certification or continuing education records, or with your consent.
  • Legal requirements: when we believe disclosure is required by law, subpoena, or court order, or is necessary to protect our rights, property, or safety, or that of others.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, sale, financing, or transfer of all or part of our business, subject to this Privacy Policy.

5. Data Retention

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and as long as needed to provide the Services, maintain training and certificate records, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.

6. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, secure the Site, and understand how the Site is used. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies, but some parts of the Services, including logging in and accessing courses, may not work without them.

Do Not Track: Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" setting. Because there is no common standard for these signals, the Site does not currently respond to them. Where required by California law, we honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.

7. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential.

8. Your California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you may have the following rights under California law, including the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, to the extent it applies to us:

  • Right to know: to request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties we share it with.
  • Right to delete: to request deletion of personal information we collected from you, subject to legal exceptions (for example, records we must keep).
  • Right to correct: to request correction of inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to opt out: of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
  • Right to limit: the use of sensitive personal information. We use sensitive personal information only for purposes permitted by law.
  • Right to non-discrimination: we will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

Shine the Light: California Civil Code Section 1798.83 lets California residents request information about disclosures of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.

How to make a request: email legal@wastewatercollege.com with the subject line "Privacy Request." We will verify your identity before responding, which may require you to confirm information associated with your account. You may use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf, and we may require proof of the agent's authority. We will respond within the time required by law.

9. Children's Privacy

The Services are intended for adults and are not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Marketing Communications

You can opt out of marketing emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link in the email or by contacting us. We will still send service-related messages about your account, enrollments, and purchases.

11. Third-Party Links and Services

The Site may link to or rely on third-party websites and services, including payment processors. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Please review their privacy policies.

12. Location of Processing

The Services are offered to students in California and are operated from the United States. Your information is stored and processed in the United States.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may change, update, or replace this Privacy Policy at any time, for any reason, without prior notice to you. When we make changes, we will post the updated Privacy Policy on this page and revise the "Last Updated" date above. Changes take effect when posted. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Your continued use of the Services after changes are posted means you accept the revised Privacy Policy.
